The story of Bugdom revolves around the Bugdom, an insect-infested realm that looks to be a real-life bug environment. The kingdom was once peacefully controlled by rollie pollies and ladybugs, but not long ago, the tyrannical and arrogant King Thorax, leader of an evil clan of fire ants, as well as their evil follower bugs recruited previous to the kingdom’s downfall, overthrew the government. Thorax now wields an iron fist over the realm, and the ladybugs are imprisoned in spider web cages strewn throughout the landscape. The player takes on the role of main character Rollie McFly, who has escaped the kingdom’s ambush by hiding under the lawn. Rollie must go to Thorax’s anthill in the Bugdom’s far reaches while rescuing various ladybugs stranded along the route.
